Perhaps it's just me, but I've gotten rather used over the years to plucky British sports stars failing at the final hurdle. Maybe it's all the Wimbledon losses and our persistent problem with penalty shoot-outs (that seems to have hit Team GB as well).
So I'm rather pleased that we're actually winning for a change. We're probably going to do even better than Beijing (which was pretty good) and we're picking up medals in sports we haven't really got medals in for ages.
I was initially against us hosting the Games back in 2005 (I thought it would be a white elephant), but came round to the idea. I'm glad we won them, even if we don't make an overall profit due to some mistakes by TfL on travel.
